Sensory Swings with Stands
Every swing on this page comes with its own stand, or is a stand you can match to a swing you already own. A stand means no drilling into a ceiling joist and no tree needed, which suits rented homes, classrooms and therapy rooms.
There are two kinds of stand in our range. The X stand is 2.1m tall with a 1.1m by 1.1m base, holds 120kg, and is built for sitting and gentle swinging, so it pairs with the waterproof pod chairs. The swing set stands are wider: the large one is 185cm tall, 260cm wide and 206cm deep, and the medium one is 190cm tall, 205cm wide and 193cm deep. Both are galvanised, powder coated steel with a suggested capacity of 150kg, and they carry the nylon wrap swings and the 150cm nest swings, which need room to swing forwards and back.
Each bundle is packed together in our Brisbane warehouse with the chain, carabiners or mini straps needed to hang the swing at the right height, and the PDF manual for both the swing and the stand is linked on every product page. Stands are heavy items, so orders to Tasmania, Western Australia and the Northern Territory carry a surcharge that you select on the product page. Elsewhere in Australia delivery is free.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to drill into the ceiling to use a sensory swing with a stand?
No. The stand replaces the ceiling hook, so the swing hangs from the stand's own carabiner and can be moved between rooms or out to the verandah. Nothing is fixed to the house. If you later want a ceiling point, our anchor plate kit is rated to 100kg per kit and comes with expansion bolts for concrete or brick and screws for a timber beam.
Which stand suits a pod swing, and which suits a wrap or nest swing?
The X stand suits the pod chairs, because a pod is for sitting and gentle swinging and the X stand is designed for exactly that, with a 120kg capacity and a 2.1m height. Wrap swings and 150cm nest swings need a swing set stand, which has hanging points across a 205cm or 260cm wide top bar and a suggested capacity of 150kg, so the swing can move forwards and back, or hang from the middle strap to spin.
How much floor space does a swing stand need?
The X stand takes a 1.1m by 1.1m square and stands 2.1m tall. The medium swing set stand is 205cm wide, 193cm deep and 190cm tall, and the large one is 260cm wide, 206cm deep and 185cm tall. Allow clear space around the swing as well: the nest swing manual asks for 2m clear on either side, and every manual says to set the stand on a flat surface away from anything a child could bump into or trip on.
Can the stand stay outside?
Yes, with some care. The stands are powder coated steel, and the swing set stands are galvanised as well, so they are weather resistant. The manuals still recommend some cover when a stand is left out for long periods. The swing is the weaker link: the waterproof pod chairs cope with weather, but a nylon wrap swing should not be left outside permanently, so the manual suggests keeping the swing under cover and leaving the stand in place.
Is delivery free on swing and stand bundles?
Delivery is free to Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and the ACT, and usually takes 1 to 7 days after the courier collects the order. Stands are heavy items, so Tasmania, Western Australia and Northern Territory orders carry a surcharge that you choose from the drop-down on the product page, with delivery of 5 to 14 days. Most orders leave our Brisbane warehouse on the next business day.
How hard is the stand to assemble?
Each stand has a step by step photo manual, linked on its product page. The X stand's four legs lock into the centre X piece with twist-in bolts, the uprights slot in, and the two top poles bolt together with the hanging carabiner through the top hole. The swing set stand pieces are numbered to match the diagram, bolt together, then take the rope between the two sides and the mini straps that hold the swing.
