Blue and Green Waterproof Sensory Swing with Stand
Not everybody is able to install a screw hook into their roof to hang a sensory swing, so that's where the stand comes in handy. You can set it up in the child's bedroom, play area, verandah or other area and move it as you please.
The stand is 2.1m tall, it's easy to assemble and it comes with additional accessories that let you adjust the hanging height - a chain and carabiners.
Why is this one so popular?
It is popular with both kids with autism and occupational therapists for its soothing effect. The stand makes it very convenient to set up, without the need to install anything in the roof. If you want to use the swing outside, you'll only need a tree strap or rope - the material is suitable for outdoors, and the water resistance also makes it easier to wipe down and clean.
Some children like to add a soft blanket around the outside of the seat. This makes the seat warmer and flatter.

For families who cannot or do not want to put a hook in the ceiling: renters, apartments, or a bedroom with no accessible joist. The 2.1m stand sits on the floor of a bedroom, play room or sensory room and moves with you. The waterproof swing also comes off the stand for outdoors with a tree strap, while the stand itself is for indoor and undercover use. The set is rated to 80kg, though the pod is sized for smaller children.

The chain and carabiners set the seat height: clip a carabiner to a different link until the seat sits about 35cm off the floor, low enough to climb in and out. The stand is for sitting and gentle rocking, not strong swinging; if a leg lifts, then reduce swinging, or rebalance the feet/legs as per the manual, or weigh down the base. Safety and care for pod swings
- After fitting the cushion, make sure the zip sits on the inside of the pod. If it is on the outside, turn the pod inside out. This keeps the load off the stitching.
- Hang the seat no more than 35cm above grass, sand, wood chips or a mat.
- The pod is for sitting and gentle rocking, not strong swinging. Sit in the centre with full weight when using it alone, in bare feet or soft shoes.
- The canvas is waterproof, but do not let water pool inside if it gets wet, and bring it in and store it dry at the end of the season.
- Check the fabric and stitching at the start of each season, and the hanging point and carabiners before each use.
- An adult should supervise, and check that the child can get in and out safely. This is the part that requires more balance and manoeuvring.

Safety and care for swing stands
- Set the stand on a flat surface, clear of toys and anything a child could bump into or trip on. Grass or matting is safer than a hard floor.
- Double check that every bolt and connection is tight, then adjust the chain or straps so the swing hangs at a height that is easy to get on and off.
- The X-Stand, U-Stand and tripod are for sitting or gentle swinging. Strong swinging belongs on a swing set stand with a wider base. If the swing is rated lower than the stand, the swing's limit applies.
- Keep an eye out for sliding, leg lifting or tipping. Noting such would mean needing to take extra care not to swing overly strongly, and you may consider fixing the stand down, eg. our Spiral Pegs into dirt or grass, or adding weights to the base, such as Velcro sandbags from eBay.
- When spinning from a single point, put a swivel above the carabiners so the rotation is smoother and puts less force on the stand.
- On soft ground, peg or sandbag the legs; indoors, use floor protectors under the feet.
- The stands are powder coated for weather, but give them some cover over long periods outside, and bring the swing in when it is not being used.

Will the sensory swing stand fit under a normal ceiling?
Yes, the stand is 2.1m tall, so it clears a standard 2.4m ceiling with room to spare and suits a bedroom or play room. Allow floor space around it for the pod to rock, and keep toys and furniture out of the swing path. A mat under the swing is safer than a hard floor.
Can I use the stand outside?
The stand is designed for indoor and undercover use, so the usual arrangement is the stand indoors and a tree strap outdoors, using the same waterproof swing in both places. The stand is powder coated steel, so a covered verandah is fine, but it should not live permanently out in the weather. The swing itself is waterproof Oxford polyester and wipes clean.
How do I adjust the seat height?
With the chain and carabiners that come in the box: hang the chain from the top of the stand with one carabiner, and clip the swing to whichever chain link gives the right height with the other. The seat should sit about 35cm off the floor so the child can get in and out without help. Moving the carabiner one link at a time is the quickest way to fine tune it.
