Which stand is which

Every stand on this page is sized for a particular hammock or chair, so check which one you are looking at before comparing measurements.

• The 2.5m steel stand coming in the steel stand sets is powder coated steel, 2.5m long, 1.1m wide and 1.0m tall, weighs 16kg, slots together and packs back into the carry bag that comes with it. It copes with weather, though it lasts longest under cover. The sets pair it with a 100% cotton hammock with a 1.6m wide bed, in mixed blues, bright colours, beige with tassels, or beige and grey stripes.
• The pine arc stand comes in the pine stand sets. It is FSC certified solid pine with a dark stain and varnish, 2.6m long, 1.2m wide and 1.05m tall, and weighs 23kg. It bolts together with the 17mm socket tool in the box. It looks better than steel in a garden or on a deck, and the sets pair it with hammocks in mixed blues, bright colours, red and orange, blue and green stripes, or beige canvas. Keep it under cover when it is not in use to get the most life from the wood.
• The hammock chair sets and hanging egg chairs each come with their own stand, matched to that chair.

Stands on their own

• XL hammock stand (3.7m): powder coated charcoal steel, 3.73m long, 1.4m wide and 1.13m tall, rated to 200kg. It is made for our 150cm cotton spreader bar hammocks, which are too long for the 2.5m stand. Two chains and S-hooks are included, to adjust the hanging height and angle, and each foot has an eyelet for tying the hammock down, if you need assistance with balance.
• XXL three beam hammock stand (4.6m): powder coated black steel with zinc coated legs, 4.57m long, 1.22m wide and 1.22m tall, rated to 200kg. It is the stand for longer hammocks such as rope spreader bar hammocks, with some being 3.66m long from ring to ring, and it takes the 150cm cotton ones too. The ends are capped with plastic so it slides across a deck without marking it. It comes with two chains and S-hooks, to adjust the hanging height and angle, and to support hammocks of differing lengths.
• X stand: powder coated steel, 2.1m tall on a 110cm by 110cm base, rated to 120kg. It fits most hammock chairs, pod swings and wrap swings, for sitting or very gentle swinging.
• U stand: powder coated steel with three hanging points, 2.05m tall on a 160cm by 140cm base, holding 150kg when sitting. It is the smallest stand that takes a wrap swing from two points, and it suits sitting or gentle to moderate swinging.
• Heavier duty tripod stand: powder coated steel, 260cm along each side of the base and 257cm tall, rated to 204kg. It is very large, though a large stand is necessary for the Cacoons, which it can fit, even including the Double size, and the chain lets you raise or lower the swing.

How much space is needed

Allow the stand's footprint plus a little space to get in from the side. The footprints are: 2.5m by 1.1m for the 2.5m steel stand, 2.6m by 1.2m for the pine stand, 3.73m by 1.4m for the XL stand and 4.57m by 1.22m for the XXL stand. The hammock chair sets are 2.1m tall on a base of 110cm by 110cm, and the single hanging egg chairs are about 2m tall on a base of roughly 116cm by 105cm, so both clear a standard ceiling indoors. The two seater egg chair is 173cm wide, 110cm deep and 186cm tall.

Where they can stay

Decking, pavers and short grass all suit the stands. If on a lawn, then adding pavers under the feet to act as a solid surface is an option, to keep the stand level. The cotton hammock lifts off the hooks in a few seconds, so bring it in before rain. The egg chairs are the ones built to stay outdoors, such as on a verandah, with resin wicker or PE rattan pods on powder coated steel, and only their cushions need to come in.
