This beige coloured hammock with tassels and steel stand is one of our most popular choices of free standing hammock. It is pre-matched for size, so you can expect it to fit. You can see the model photo for perspective.

It is made from 100% Cotton Canvas with Polyester Ropes, which is soft and comfortable.

It is easy to assemble, packs into the carry bag that comes with it, and there are optional accessories available for people who want to move the hammock to a non-stand hanging position.

It can support up to 200kg, so can be used by multiple people.

Who it suits

For a verandah, deck or courtyard where the hammock is part of the look: a beige cotton canvas bed finished with tassels, in a softer, more natural style than our bright sets. It sits on the same 2.5m powder coated steel stand as our other steel sets, so no trees, posts or screws are needed. The bed is 239cm long and 160cm wide and the set is rated to 200kg, so two adults can lie in it together.

Hanging and setup

The stand slots together and packs into the carry bag supplied, and the hammock's polyester end ropes go over the hooks at each end, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes the first time. The stand needs a flat area 2.5m by 1.1m. Beige shows marks sooner than the darker colours, so if the hammock is going to stay out on the stand, the protective sleeve in the drop-down above the Add to Cart button slides over it between uses and keeps sun, rain and dirt off.

Setting up and caring for a free standing hammock

  • Set the stand on flat, firm ground. Decking, pavers and short grass all suit; on soft lawn the feet can sink after rain, so a paver under each foot keeps it level.
  • The steel stand slots together and packs back into its carry bag, so it can move around the yard or come in for winter. The pine arc stands bolt together with the 17mm socket tool in the box.
  • The hammock's end loops sit on the hooks at each end of the stand. Choose the hook position that leaves the bed about knee height when someone is lying in it: the hammock can be adjusted to have a flatter bed, or a deeper curve.
  • Every set is pre-matched, so the hammock fits the stand as supplied. If you swap in a different hammock, check that its total length suits the stand before anyone gets in.
  • The sets are rated to 200kg, which covers two adults. Get in from the middle of the bed, never from the end near the hooks, and do not stand or jump in the hammock. If a leg of the stand ever lifts, get out and check the ground under it, and the stand and it's legs.
  • The steel stand is powder coated and copes with weather, but it lasts longest under cover. The pine stand is stained and varnished; keep it under cover to maximise its life, and bring the cotton hammock in before rain. It lifts off the hooks easily.
  • Check the hooks, ropes and stand joints regularly for rust, fraying or loosening.
