This mixed bright (purple, blue, red, yellow etc) coloured hammock and steel stand is one of our most popular choices of free standing hammock.  It is pre-matched for size, so you can expect it to fit.  You can see the model photos for perspective.

It is made from 100% cotton, which is soft and comfortable.

It is easy to assemble, packs into the carry bag that comes with it, and there are optional accessories available for people who want to move the hammock to a non-stand hanging position.

Who it suits

For anyone who wants the hammock to be a bright centerpiece: the stripes run through purple, blue, red and yellow, in soft 100% cotton. It suits a yard, deck or verandah without trees or posts in convenient locations, because the steel stand holds it up on its own and can be moved around or packed away. The bed is 239cm long and 160cm wide, room for two adults or a parent and children, within the 200kg rating.

Hanging and setup

Setting it up takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The powder coated steel stand slots together, and the hammock's end strings sit on the hooks at each end; the hook position sets how flat the bed hangs. The stand is 2.5m long, 1.1m wide and 1.0m tall, so allow that footprint plus a little space at the sides to get in. It all packs back into the included carry bag, and the stand weighs 16kg.

Setting up and caring for a free standing hammock

  • Set the stand on flat, firm ground. Decking, pavers and short grass all suit; on soft lawn the feet can sink after rain, so a paver under each foot keeps it level.
  • The steel stand slots together and packs back into its carry bag, so it can move around the yard or come in for winter. The pine arc stands bolt together with the 17mm socket tool in the box.
  • The hammock's end loops sit on the hooks at each end of the stand. Choose the hook position that leaves the bed about knee height when someone is lying in it: the hammock can be adjusted to have a flatter bed, or a deeper curve.
  • Every set is pre-matched, so the hammock fits the stand as supplied. If you swap in a different hammock, check that its total length suits the stand before anyone gets in.
  • The sets are rated to 200kg, which covers two adults. Get in from the middle of the bed, never from the end near the hooks, and do not stand or jump in the hammock. If a leg of the stand ever lifts, get out and check the ground under it, and the stand and it's legs.
  • The steel stand is powder coated and copes with weather, but it lasts longest under cover. The pine stand is stained and varnished; keep it under cover to maximise its life, and bring the cotton hammock in before rain. It lifts off the hooks easily.
  • Check the hooks, ropes and stand joints regularly for rust, fraying or loosening.
Questions about this product

Can I hang the bright hammock without the stand?

Yes, the hammock can hang between two trees, posts or beams, and the stand then packs away in its bag. It is 320cm long in total, so hanging points about that far apart hang it low and flat. Our daisy chain straps, rated to 204kg, go around a tree or beam and adjust in seconds. The plate hooks screw into solid timber or masonry but are rated to 120kg, which then becomes the limit.

Is the bright hammock set easy to move?

Yes, nothing is fixed down, so it can move into the shade, onto the deck or into the shed for winter. Moving it assembled is easier with two people because the stand is 2.5m long. The wheel kit offered on this page bolts to one end, so one person can lift the other end and roll it, which also helps when mowing the lawn underneath.
