Black Wicker Hanging Egg Chair with Armrests and Stand

This set includes the black wicker egg chair, its own round based steel stand, the dark grey seat and back cushion, and the chain and hook to hang it. It is the only chair in our egg chair range with armrests: the wicker curves out into a rest on each side, so you sit in it more like an armchair than a pod.

The pod is 102cm wide, the widest of our single egg chairs, and the cushion is 8cm thick. It hangs from the hook at the top of the curved stand and turns a full circle. The stand is 2m tall on a 105cm round base, so it takes a little less floor than the X base stands and clears a standard ceiling. The chair and stand arrive in one carton.

How does it compare with our other egg chairs?

The same 150kg capacity as the grey egg chairs, but a wider seat, armrests, and a black weave that suits a darker outdoor setting. The pod does not fold. It is not recommended for children aged 3 and under.

Care

The wicker is made for weather and UV resistance and the frame is powder coated, but like our other chairs it lasts longest kept under cover when not in use. Take the cushion and pillow inside if it lives on a verandah. Brush dust out of the weave with a soft brush, then wash it with warm water and a little mild detergent on a soft cloth, rinse and let it dry fully before the cushions go back in. Do not use bleach, abrasive cleaners or a pressure washer: they make synthetic rattan brittle and fade the colour. Partial shade slows fading, and a breathable cover keeps rain, dew and bird droppings off it between uses; lift the cover now and then so condensation does not start mould. Check the chain, hook and stand bolts each season.
