Grey Two Seater Hanging Egg Chair with Canopy and Stand

This set includes the grey two seater egg chair, its own steel stand, the two seat cushions, an adjustable canopy, and the two chains and hooks it hangs from. It is the only double in our egg chair range, rated to 200kg for two people, and it hangs from two points on the stand, so it swings gently forward and back rather than turning.

The pod is 128cm wide and 100cm tall, with a lower back than the single chairs so two people can sit side by side. The canopy is water resistant and UV protected, angles to follow the sun, and lifts off if you would rather have it open. The stand is 1.86m tall on a 173cm by 110cm base, so allow a good 2m of floor each way.

How does it compare with our single egg chairs?

Two seats, twice the capacity and a canopy, on a wider stand. At 49kg boxed it is a two person lift on delivery day, and the heavy item surcharge for TAS, WA and NT is higher than for the single chairs. It is not recommended for children aged 3 and under.

Care

The wicker is made for weather and UV resistance and the frame is powder coated, but like our other chairs it lasts longest kept under cover when not in use. Take the cushion and pillow inside if it lives on a verandah. Brush dust out of the weave with a soft brush, then wash it with warm water and a little mild detergent on a soft cloth, rinse and let it dry fully before the cushions go back in. Do not use bleach, abrasive cleaners or a pressure washer: they make synthetic rattan brittle and fade the colour. Partial shade slows fading, and a breathable cover keeps rain, dew and bird droppings off it between uses; lift the cover now and then so condensation does not start mould. Check the chain, hook and stand bolts each season.
