It is easy to assemble, packs into the carry bag that comes with it, and there are optional accessories available for people who want to move the hammock to a non-stand hanging position.

For a backyard, deck or verandah without trees or posts in convenient locations: the steel stand holds the hammock up on its own, so nothing is screwed into the house, and the set can move into the shade or pack away for winter. Blues are the colour that customers choose most often in our hammocks. The soft 100% cotton bed is 239cm long and 160cm wide, big enough for two adults to lie in together, and the set is rated to 200kg.
The 2.5m powder coated steel stand slots together, weighs 16kg and packs back into the included carry bag. It needs a flat area of 2.5m long and 1.1m wide, plus a little room at the sides to get in, and it stands 1.0m tall. The hammock's end strings go over the hooks at each end, and the hook you choose sets how flat or curved the bed hangs. Setting up and caring for a free standing hammock
- Set the stand on flat, firm ground. Decking, pavers and short grass all suit; on soft lawn the feet can sink after rain, so a paver under each foot keeps it level.
- The steel stand slots together and packs back into its carry bag, so it can move around the yard or come in for winter. The pine arc stands bolt together with the 17mm socket tool in the box.
- The hammock's end loops sit on the hooks at each end of the stand. Choose the hook position that leaves the bed about knee height when someone is lying in it: the hammock can be adjusted to have a flatter bed, or a deeper curve.
- Every set is pre-matched, so the hammock fits the stand as supplied. If you swap in a different hammock, check that its total length suits the stand before anyone gets in.
- The sets are rated to 200kg, which covers two adults. Get in from the middle of the bed, never from the end near the hooks, and do not stand or jump in the hammock. If a leg of the stand ever lifts, get out and check the ground under it, and the stand and it's legs.
- The steel stand is powder coated and copes with weather, but it lasts longest under cover. The pine stand is stained and varnished; keep it under cover to maximise its life, and bring the cotton hammock in before rain. It lifts off the hooks easily.
- Check the hooks, ropes and stand joints regularly for rust, fraying or loosening.
Can two people use the mixed blues free standing hammock?
Yes, the set is rated to 200kg, and the cotton bed is 160cm wide and 239cm long, so two adults can lie in it together. Get in one at a time from the middle of the bed rather than the end near the hooks, and keep the combined weight under 200kg. It is made for lying and gentle swinging, not for standing or jumping in.
Can the mixed blues hammock stay out on the stand?
The steel stand can stay outside, and the hammock can stay on it between uses if you add the protective sleeve offered on this page. The sleeve is a 3.56m tube of ripstop polyester that slides over the hammock and closes at each end, keeping rain, sun and dirt off the cotton. Without it, lift the hammock off the hooks before rain, because cotton that stays damp will mildew.
