Grey Open Weave Hanging Egg Chair with Stand

This set includes the grey open weave egg chair, its own steel stand, a large seat cushion, a pillow, and the chain and hook to hang it from the stand. It is the lighter looking chair in our egg chair range: the pod is woven from vertical strands of resin wicker, so you can see out through the sides.

The pod hangs from the single hook at the top of the curved stand and turns a full circle. It also comes with a short fixed rope, which ties the pod to the stand if you would rather it stayed put, handy for reading or for anyone who finds the turning unsettling. The stand is 2m tall on a 116cm by 105cm base, the same stand as our folding grey egg chair, so it clears a standard ceiling.

How does it compare with our other egg chairs?

It is the same size and capacity as the folding grey egg chair (150kg, 110cm tall pod), but the pod is a fixed wicker weave rather than a padded shell that folds. Choose this one if you prefer the open look and do not need to pack the pod away. It is not recommended for children aged 3 and under.

Care

The wicker is made for weather and UV resistance and the frame is powder coated, but like our other chairs it lasts longest kept under cover when not in use. Take the cushion and pillow inside if it lives on a verandah. Brush dust out of the weave with a soft brush, then wash it with warm water and a little mild detergent on a soft cloth, rinse and let it dry fully before the cushions go back in. Do not use bleach, abrasive cleaners or a pressure washer: they make synthetic rattan brittle and fade the colour. Partial shade slows fading, and a breathable cover keeps rain, dew and bird droppings off it between uses; lift the cover now and then so condensation does not start mould. Check the chain, hook and stand bolts each season.
