For anyone hanging a swing from a single point who wants it to spin smoothly: a wrap swing, pod swing or nest swing on one strap, one hook or one mini strap on a stand. Our swing straps already come with a basic swivel, so this is the upgrade for a swing that gets a lot of spinning, or the missing piece for a hanging point that has no swivel of its own, such as a ceiling hook or an anchor plate.
Clip one carabiner to the hanging point, the swivel to that carabiner, and the second carabiner between the swivel and the swing's O-ring, then check that both carabiner gates are fully closed before anyone gets in. On a stand, a swivel makes the spinning smoother and puts less force on the mini straps than clipping the swing straight on directly.
Do I need this if I already have tree straps?
Not necessarily, because our swing straps already have a basic swivel built in. The premium swivel turns the most smoothly, so it suits a swing that is spun a lot, or a child who spins for long stretches. It is the piece you do need when the swing hangs from a plain hook, plate or beam strap that has no swivel at all.
Which swings does it fit?
Practically all of them: the two large carabiners clip to the O-rings on our nest swings, the carabiners of the wrap swings and the O-ring on the pod swings, and to a strap, chain or hook at the other end. It is for single point hanging, where the swing is meant to turn. A swing hung from two points swings forward and back instead and does not need a swivel.
