Hanging Egg Chairs
An egg chair is a deep pod that hangs from a curved stand, so it turns a full circle and holds you with your feet off the ground. Every one here comes as a complete set: pod, stand, cushions, chain and hook, with a user manual for the bolts.
The single chairs are rated to 150kg and the two seater to 200kg. Pods run from 80cm by 60cm up to 128cm by 106cm for the two seater, and the stands are about 2m tall, so they clear a standard ceiling indoors and suit a covered deck.
The differences
- Folding pod: the pod folds flat for storage over winter, and the shell is polyester fabric rather than wicker.
- Open weave and black wicker: resin wicker pods that shrug off weather, the black one with armrests and a 4cm steel frame.
- Two seater: a wider pod with a removable, angle adjustable canopy and two cushions, on a 173cm wide stand.
- Latte rattan: hand woven PE rattan, the deepest pod at 115cm, delivered in two cartons.
Living outside
The pods and frames are made for weather and UV, and they last longest under cover when nobody is using them. Bring the cushions inside, brush dust out of the weave, and wash it with warm water and mild detergent rather than bleach or a pressure washer. Check the chain, hook and stand bolts each season.
