Grey Hanging Egg Chair with Folding Stand

This set includes the grey egg chair, its own steel stand, a large seat cushion, a pillow, and the chain and hook to hang it from the stand. The pod folds down for storage, which is the main difference between this chair and the fixed wicker egg chairs.

The pod is a padded polyester shell rather than woven wicker, so there is no rattan to crack or unravel, and the cushion and pillow lift out for cleaning. It hangs from the single hook at the top of the curved stand and turns a full circle, so you can face the garden or the room without moving the stand. The stand is 2m tall on a 116cm by 105cm base, about the same footprint as our X stand but 10cm shorter, so it clears a standard ceiling with room to spare.

How does it compare with our hammock chairs?

The egg chair is relatively larger and more rigid than the hammock chairs, and with thicker padding. It is the enclosed version: you sit inside it, with the cushion behind your back and the shell around your shoulders. It is rated to 150kg, which is higher than our hammock chairs at 120kg, so it also suits larger users. It is not recommended for children aged 3 and under.

Care

The fabric is made for weather and UV resistance and the frame is powder coated, but like our other chairs it lasts longest kept under cover when not in use. Fold the pod and bring it inside when not in use for longer periods if it lives on a verandah.
