Note - Beige Colour (keep clean and avoid prolonged moisture): While the swing is made from weather resistant Oxford Polyester, dirt and prolonged moisture should still be avoided, since beige would be an easy colour for mildew to appear on.
Made from durable and weather resistant Oxford Polyester, the Open Hangout is a great play space or quiet space. The stand is large and best suited to outdoors and can be left outdoors, while the hangout is best kept under cover/shade when left for prolonged periods. The stand also includes an integrated swivel, for easier spinning.
It is popular for relaxing on while reading a book or playing a game while gently swinging. It can help to soothe over-stimulation such as from autism and sensory overload. It can be a good match with a quilt set up on top.
The swing is fixed at 170cm tall, so requires a hanging point of about 210cm+ high, which the stand exceeds. The set has a weight limit of 80kg, which is mainly in relation to the tripod style stand mainly being designed for sitting / spinning / gentle swinging, and the minimum age is 3 years old.
You can adjust the hanging height of the swing by adjusting it up and down the chain on the stand. The height of the swing should be at a safe height - easy to get on and off. Setting it up lower actually increases the distance to the side poles too.
The hangout comes disassembled, and may take 10+ minutes to assemble. The hangout has 6 metal tubes for the inner ring that keep its shape. You should have 1-2 people available for assembly.

Safety and care for hangouts
- Hang the nest no more than 40cm above grass, sand, wood chips or a mat, with about 1.5m clear on either side, from a frame, beam or a tree limb at least 25cm thick.
- Hangouts are for sitting and gentle movement, not strong swinging.
- Do not put arms, legs or the head between the supporting ropes; this is the main thing to watch when supervising.
- Sit in the centre when using it alone. Sitting or lying is safer than standing, jumping or hanging from the frame.
- Check the fabric regularly for wear. Fabric degrades over time, especially in sun.
- Recommended for ages 3 and up, with adult supervision.

Safety and care for swing stands
- Set the stand on a flat surface, clear of toys and anything a child could bump into or trip on. Grass or matting is safer than a hard floor.
- Double check that every bolt and connection is tight, then adjust the chain or straps so the swing hangs at a height that is easy to get on and off.
- The X-Stand, U-Stand and tripod are for sitting or gentle swinging. Strong swinging belongs on a swing set stand with a wider base. If the swing is rated lower than the stand, the swing's limit applies.
- Keep an eye out for sliding, leg lifting or tipping. Noting such would mean needing to take extra care not to swing overly strongly, and you may consider fixing the stand down, eg. our Spiral Pegs into dirt or grass, or adding weights to the base, such as Velcro sandbags from eBay.
- When spinning from a single point, put a swivel between the carabiners so the rotation is smoother and puts less force on the stand.
- On soft ground, peg or sandbag the legs; indoors, use floor protectors under the feet.
- The stands are powder coated for weather, but give them some cover over long periods outside, and bring the swing in when it is not being used.
