Hanging, safety and care for hammock chairs

• Hang from one point that can take the load: a stand, a beam, a joist, a solid branch or a hanging kit installed into solid timber. Plasterboard, cornices and hollow beams will not hold a chair safely.
• Every hammock chair in our range is rated to 120kg, one person at a time. The chairs are 1.24m to 1.45m from the top to bottom, depending on the model, so allow for that plus the chain when you check your ceiling height.
• Hang it so the seat sits around ordinary chair height when someone is in it. The chain and S-hooks in our hanging kits can be adjusted by a link at a time to get this right.
• The cone spring kit adds a little bounce. Spinning twists the ropes above the spreader bar, so if the chair will be spun a lot, add a swivel between the hook and the chair.
• Chairs with a stand: the stand is 2.1m tall on a cross base, so it clears a standard ceiling and suits sitting and gentle swaying. Set it on a flat surface, clip the chair to the carabiner at the top, and keep swinging gentle so the base stays flat on the floor.
• Sit in the middle of the seat; nobody should stand on the seat or hang from the bar. Children should have an adult nearby to be sure that they can get on and off, and use it safely.
• The canvas, rope and macrame chairs are cotton or poly cotton, so bring them in when they are not being used and keep them out of the rain. Cushions and pillows live indoors. Check the knots on the bar and O-ring before each season.
